Chatham Farmer's Market 9/11/10 Recap

Yesterday was a beautiful day at the Market.   It felt a bit weird as it was  the anniversary of 9/11 but it turned out to be a nice day.   It turned out to be one of our more successful days too.   We sold quite a few packages of our veggies burgers in bulk.   I think this was also because we mentioned we wouldn't be back until October 2nd.   It is kind of funny to watch the sales trends....our Asian and SW seem to sell the best.   I never know what to say when people ask for my favorite....I like them all and as with children hate to pinpoint which I like best.

Theresa's Asian Napa Cabbage Salad was also a big hit.   It is such a refreshing salad and is the perfect side dish to almost anything...although I just like have it as my main meal.

Here are some photos from yesterday's market....doesn't it look like it was a beautiful day?

Prep Day for Sat....

I just got back from doing my Friday packaging of our burgers.   We are going to sample the SW and possibly the Asian burger tomorrow.   After tomorrow we are taking a break until October 2nd so come out and stock up for the next few weeks.

Tomorrow's side dish is an Asian Napa Cabbage Salad....it is one of my favorites.   Theresa introduced it to the Riviera Market in Waldwick and their customers love it.   Here is how it looks before we pack it out.....

Doesn't it look delish!

Another view:

Seriously I could eat that whole thing....

So we hope to see you tomorrow.....It should  be a beautiful day!

From CNN: Positives to a Plant Based Diet

I saw this report on CNN and thought it was perfect  way to explain why our Veggie burgers are a nice alternative.  This report doesn't say to replace meat altogether but to balance it out.   It also compares veggie burgers to hamburgers.   A nice short report that is to the point.   Again it is all about balance.

Chatham Farmer's Market 9/4/10 Recap

What a week.   We had sold out of most of our stock and needed to replenish badly.   There was a little glitch in our production schedule as we were not able to produce on Wednesday night like we are used to.   We like to at least mix our batches on one night and if we don't have time that gives us another day  to cook the burgers and freeze overnight in order to package them on Friday.  This past week we had to make sure we did it all in one night.   On top of that we were worried about the weather and how Hurricane Earl would affect us.

Luckily all went well and the weather cooperated.   It was a really beautiful day, albeit a bit windy.   I was glad I reminded Theresa to bring the weights for the tent.   Some tents almost blew over as the gusts were bigger than anticipated.

This week  we not only cooked all in one night but Theresa made time to make our weekly sides.  We brought a Black Bean Corn Salad and a Tomato Chutney.   I have decided that Chutney is my new favorite thing.....

Here are some photos of our day at the Market:

Kids love to play with the beans and a little girl wanted to put the ginger in her basket.   Doesn't Theresa do a great display job?

The wind kept knocking this over.   I spent most of the day picking it up off the ground.....

Theresa with the Asian burger samples

We have been trying to just sample one flavor a week.  We are thinking of sampling the SW burger next Saturday.

Samples

Just another view of our samples.   It was a good week so will be producing more this week.   Hopefully our schedule won't be hampered...at least I don't think there is another Hurricane in the forecast.

Oh I have been experimenting with special effects with my photos....not great but what do you think???

Have a great week and we hope to see you Saturday!
